This project at College of the Siskiyous aims to establish a practical and scalable approach to AI literacy that empowers faculty to integrate AI meaningfully into their teaching. The initiative will support 15 faculty members, with at least half teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, in developing AI-enhanced teaching modules tailored to their disciplines.

Faculty will begin with a self-paced @ONE AI Literacy and Teaching with AI course to build foundational knowledge before participating in three expert-led training sessions in Fall 2025. These sessions will provide hands-on guidance for designing AI-integrated instructional materials. In Spring 2026, faculty will test their modules in real classroom settings and participate in three facilitated online sessions. To assess instructional impact, pre- and post-surveys will be conducted for both faculty and students, measuring learning progress, module effectiveness, and AI integration confidence. Students will provide formative feedback via short, anonymous surveys or reflection prompts to refine modules, alongside pre/post-surveys assessing initial impact on engagement and learning.

Survey instruments will align with standard instructional evaluation practices. An external IRB review will confirm exemption status before data collection begins.

As a key deliverable, this project will produce an Open Educational Resource (OER) guide titled Teaching with AI in CTE Fields: A Practical Guide for Rural-Serving Institutions. This guide will compile best practices, tested teaching modules, and insights gained through implementation, ensuring long-term impact beyond the initial faculty cohort. All modules will be shared through Canvas Commons, and the OER guide will be published via LibreTexts for broad accessibility. The project will also include open training opportunities for K-12 educators, fostering collaboration between college and K-12 faculty. With a structured budget supporting faculty stipends, expert facilitation, and OER development, this initiative is designed as a replicable model for rural institutions integrating AI into education.

This project anticipates directly impacting 15 faculty members and their students, with additional participation from interested K-12 educators, ultimately benefiting an estimated 400 students.
