Certified Learning Assistants Program (CLAP) – UC Irvine

Learning Assistants (LAs) are undergraduate peer educators that work with students in the classroom setting to support and facilitate active learning in courses that are traditionally difficult or have high enrollment. LAs in CLAP are unique because they are required to enroll in an LA pedagogy/training course concurrent to their first quarter as an LA.

CU Science Education Initiative

The University of Colorado Boulder Science Education Initiative was a university-supported, 10-year, $5M project to improve how we teach science to all undergraduate students. The SEI centered on department-based Discipline-Based Education Specialists (DBESs); disciplinary experts with training in the science of teaching and learning who serve as catalysts of change within departments.  The initiative completed in 2013.

Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative

Housed at the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC) through a three-year partnership agreement with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research, Learning Lab aims to improve learning outcomes and close equity gaps across California’s public higher education segments, particularly in the STEM disciplines through the application of the science of learning and in online and hybrid course environments.
