Deputy Director, Administration & Sustainability
Marisa Cheung is the Deputy Director of Administration & Sustainability for the California Education Learning Lab and was previously a Learning Lab Program Officer. She joined the team with a longstanding history of strategic grant writing and grantmaking in support of statewide workforce development and postsecondary student equity initiatives, social and human services programs, and efforts to build capacity among leaders of historically underrepresented community groups to access philanthropic and government funding in support of equity. Marisa feels passionately about increasing access to higher education, not only as a pathway to social mobility but as a conduit for critical inquiry, dialogue, creative problem-solving, and civic engagement. Her approach and commitment to Learning Lab’s mission is informed by professional and lived experience as a consultant, nonprofit administrator, community organizer and volunteer. Marisa holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in community organizing from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
